Celebrating 50 Women at 50

I’ve always said that there’s something really special about photography women as they turn the corner of that 50 years of age.

I’m 44 as I type this out and it’s not that far off.

But right now, I’m in the beautiful thick of it. Trying to be the best mum I can be to my amazing two girls. Trying to keep my little business and my big dreams for it going. Trying to see and call everyone else enough too. It can be a lot.

But something about these women at 50 inspires me every time. It’s like they’re coming out the other side of it all slowly. Like they’re finding time to breathe again. And remembering how it felt to do things just because they wanted to. And because they enjoyed it.

To be able to capture that is an honour and just so much fun every time. Probably because they also care a little less about doing what they perceive to be the people-pleasing thing every time. They still and they’re still good and beautiful and giving, but they’re just finding that little bit of extra time in their days for themselves and finding their glow again. I love to see it.

These last few months have been a beautiful journey on meeting lots of these amazing women, and being able to photograph them in a gorgeous mix of flying dresses, their own portrait styles and boudoir. Some wish they had done this 20 years sooner. Most are just glad they’re able to do this now. Because maybe something changed in her on the way here and she knows that she will appreciate seeing herself still as the beautiful, gorgeous, glowing woman that she is right now. Here where she is.

I can’t wait to start bringing everybody together at our next Women’s Circle or the Village that I’m working on building to bring everyone together in community. There are so many shared threads of stories.. nobody is the only one going through whatever they are in life. I’ll keep everyone updated so please do watch this space (or at least your emails) for updates. For now, here’s a little taster of what we have been creating together :
