What Even is Feminine Portraiture?
Feminine Portraiture is something that just came to me. And it’s hard to define because everybody’s idea of what is beautiful and feminine and all of those things can be so different to the next woman’s idea of what it means to her.
So here’s me musing about what that means and what I’ve tried to set up around it.

So a lot of women know what a boudoir photoshoot is.
Some women think about it longingly.. in an ‘I would really love to try that some day and wish I was brave enough now kind of way’
Other women know about it and basically shut those thoughts down straight away. Nope. Nada. That is not for me.
One woman wrote on my Facebook ad the other day, ‘Just looks silly’.
So it clearly wasn’t something she might like to try.
And that’s ok, because I get it.
I didn’t grow up showing a lot of skin and still think twice sometimes on some outfits.
But that’s why I really wanted to create something that gives every woman the same wonderful, utterly fabulous experience as the next. But where is the one in control of how much or little she shows.
Because women should get to choose what femininity looks like for them, whether that’s big bellowing dresses, boudoir or just their favourite jeans.
And women should get to feel this empowerment, this self-love, this seeing themselves beautifully no matter how they would like to be photographed. It doesn’t matter if does or doesn’t want to try boudoir photography whilst she’s here.
She has the right to make that choice. But the feeling is open to everybody in whatever version of the experience does feel good.
Feminine Portraiture sessions are focussed on giving you a moment in the spotlight. You have time for 4-5 different outfits and you get to decide. Want to choose from our gorgeous and vibrantly coloured, one size fits all flying dresses that are most probably like nothing you have ever worn before? Great! Prefer to be photographed in your favourite leather trousers and style your own short blue hair the way you like? That’s great too!
It’s just about giving yourself that moment in the spotlight. The world can feel like a really tough place some days. Ours is a room that you get to relax and have fun in for your time there. And it’s one where we laugh and chat and sometimes cry, and we hug if you’re a hugger like me, and we make memories of a day that may be one of your most favourite of the year.
I’m not sure I did very well in articulating what this session is. You’ll have to forgive me because I’m detoxing from using AI and re-connecting with my own voice (it’s fun, please try it and let’s keep the world a little more real!).
But it’s hard to say exactly what it is because it’s always designed around you. But what I can articulate is the feeling and the change that happens during and after your session. The extra spring in your step. The head held higher. The knowing that you’re pretty damn amazing as you are.

4 of them did their own hair and make up before they arrived. I bet you didn’t even notice.
4 of them were celebrating a special birthday. 2 were marking the end of a relationship. Interesting fact, I get more boudoir enquiries from women marking a divorce or separation than I do from women wanting to gift it to a future husband on their wedding day. There can be so many reasons women do a session like this. And I will do everything I can to make yours as special as I can as well. Let’s see what your version might look like too,
